School stuff

We went to Joaquin's yochien today, which is kindergarten in nihonggo, for our monthly meeting before the big event, OMG THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL. The older kids who are graduating from kindergarten this year set-up this elaborate amusement park inside the classroom based on the anime Tonari no Totoro (My Neighbor Totoro) which is very popular with kids along with Anpanman and Hard Gay, more on him later. Each "freshie" was given a passport which entitled him to go on rides. The older kids did all the work, stamping the passports , pulling the catbus, spinning the totoro chair, pushing the bobsled. And it's obvious that the kids were the ones who made the paper decors, not professionally done at all. Joaquin's favorite "ride" was the land of totoro, complete with tunnel entrance and magical lights. Anyway, you just had to be there. It was so kawaii. Who would've thought that 6 y/o could be that imaginative? With a bit of help from the teachers of course. :)

Tomorrow, we're going on another ride again. But this time to the land of chickenjoy. Can't wait ;)

I would go out again today if it wasn't raining

It's official. I am now recycling photos.

Jon finally succeeded in getting us out of the house by luring me with free lunch and money. He knows my weakness, that cad! A pasta lunch at La Ninas Paris was light in both the gastronomical and ambiance aspects. I adored their elegant tea set so we passed by Afternoon Tea because I just had to have one myself or I shall die! :) Too bad all they had were the flowery ones. I've had an aversion to flower-decorated stuff since college when this guy I used to like gave his ex-girlfriend a dress decorated with flowers as big as baby's (severed) heads. Eh? Should I be seeing a shrink for this? ahehe

It was also a long day for Joaquin because after spilling juice all over himself at lunch, he got lost in Akachang, a local children's department store. I found the poor thing after an announcement on the PA in Nihonggo in which the only words I caught were kodomo, okaasan and information senta.

And it still amazes me how I can now clean fish as good and as fast as the next tindera. My father would have been proud of me. My mom, she'll disown me.

Oh Master, may I burn my bra?

Saturday was my dey-op so I met up with Ate B and had lunch at this restaurant in provincial Senzoku owned and manned by a sweet old couple. We had terrific sipon-inducing kare (Japanese curry). Made me miss Singapore chow even more. We also passed by Shibuya, the place which never runs out of people. Daytime or nighttime it's full of young people with their punk hair and for the girls, short short skirts. And I wonder where they get their constitutions because it's still winter noh! Their bums are probably frozen numb.

So this morning we followed Ate B's advise and had Jon call up the Sony service station to ask about our laptop. It's been 2 weeks since I handed it over but everytime I call them it's always "Not yet but we'll call you". Politely, nonetheless. So 20 minutes after Jon's call, they call me up and say "Oh, your laptop has come in from the factory just now and you can pick it up. And your husband called, We're very sorry..." Nye.

I remember how I couldn't open a bank account for myself after visiting three banks in our area because I didn't have a stamp, haven't lived here long enough, etc . which is shite because Jon opened one 2 days after he arrived. So Jon went with me and tadah! opened one with no questions asked. Hmph.

Then there was that one time when I went to the doctor to have my allergy checked. After a couple of questions but no explanation, the doctor asked me "Please call your husband over." So I shouted in the waiting room "Jon, pasok ka daw!" Jon enters the room, slightly confused, too and the doctor says to him:
"I would like your permission to give your wife a vitamin infusion."

Oh please let me fetch his warm slippers first and kneel before him so he can pat me in the head like the good little wife that I am.

Contact

Shucks I was so fat THEN

Sender: XXX@mx.com
Message: Aren't you getting my e-mails?
The answer is noooo, I don't get any more emails. Not since 3 weeks ago when my laptop dropped dead in front of my very eyes. I can blog and surf while using Jon's but I can't check my mail because y'all know the dreaded word: COMPANY POLICY.

I usually run over to the free-internet-if-you-buy-anything-combini (convenience store) in Jon's office. But I haven't gone there for a long time. It's so cold, noh!

It's also why I can't check my lj password. They had this new system and they made me change it into a really hard one. So then I made a new id so I can comment on my journal that I moved here but my god, ang hirap mag-comment sa journal ko! hehe

If it really can't wait, please try my vodafone mail. I get it. Sometimes.

Missing the camera

Sometimes I just want -no - need to take a picture of something. Like the yogurt with strawberry sauce I had this morning. Man, that looked delicious. Or the cafe latte I made from scratch. Memories, yeah? But no, the camera won't effin turn on no matter how hard I pound it on the table. I mean the couch. I mean my soft palms. Uh hey babe.

Speaking of, a few weeks ago I went to see the works of Shoji Ueda at the Tokyo Met. Museum of Photography. His photos are simple yet fantastic and a lot of times funny. Much chuckling going around. I loved the pictures of his family and it's so romantic that his most popular photo is of his wife sitting in the dunes . I think everyone should have that at least once in the prime of their youth and beauty.

Time won't wait. So I'm now thinking this or this?

While sipping darjeeling tea

still sleepingI've holed ourselves up since we got back from the trip last Monday with the balcony being our only connection to the outside world. Oh and the tv. And the internet. From up here, I can see the people are wearing their spring coats. It's gonna be a warm 5-12 degrees today. The sun is out and the skies are light blue. Vacation depression is a terrible thing to have when the weather is this good. Must. Get. Out.

I'm never gonna buy Sony again

paglabas ng trenOur brand new Vaio laptop conked out 2 weeks ago and is now at the nearby (read: 27 minute-walk) service station. While that's being sorted out, I'll have to postpone putting up any photos of our weekend ski trip up on the snowy mountains of Niigata. You read that right folks, the family from the sunny island of the Philippines JUST WENT ON A SKI VACATION. Suffice it to say that the sight of piles of snow taller than our bus almost gave me a heart attack, but we came out all fine and dandy and so much more healthier than from 3 days ago.

Also, my Sony camera gave in yesterday. Lech.

I think I shall permanently move here. Now if only I can tell my 3 readers that I did then all shall be well.
