First day

He woke up at 7:30 to a new phase in his life. That means no more waking up at 10 and flopping around the house all day long. My poor baby! But don't worry - I STILL get to do it. Mwahaha.

To celebrate this day, I made star-shaped pancakes for breakfast using this specially-made state-of-the-art pancake molder.

star
It's a realistic star. Much like the nebula major. I wasn't going for some commercially-ideal star. And he liked it. (Is that a monster mama?)

And off we went to school for the opening ceremony. Omedetto gozaimasu Wakin-kun!

My son, the patriot.

I remembered I used to abhor going to school. Now it's my son's turn. Sigh. Time is gold, I tell ya, time is gold. Next thing we know he'll be having babies and not telling his mother.

Kill me now.

Sometimes, maybe after a particularly grueling day of scrubbing the floors, I look in the mirror and see my face all oily and saggy and grayish-green, and I think "Man, that's one ugly bitch." And then I'd realize ohgod that's me, not shrek's wife. Pulling myself out of the pool of misery and self-pity, I reach out for my bestfriend and lifeline - my make-up kit. After 5 minutes, all's well again in this part of the hemisphere and I sink back into my normal state of self-absorption and narcissism.
